NOTES

1. Leonard Peikoff, Ayn Rand's legal heir and executor, established the Ayn Rand Institute. Peikoff purports to promulgate and explain exactly what Rand said and wrote, with no deviation. He presents Objectivism as a finished and total system that is not in need of revision or expansion. ARI is generally regarded as the "official" version of Objectivism. See Nicholas Dykes, "Galt's Gulch or Rift Valley? Why Objectivists Should Seek Allies among Those Who Disagree with Them," at http://www.capital.demon.co.uk/LA/philosophical/gulch.txt.

10. Others would seem to include Harry Binswanger, Peter Schwartz, and Michael Berliner. Yaron Brook is an Israeli Jew.

11. MacDonald points out that the ideas promoted by Jewish intellectuals, although usually applying the rhetoric of universalism, tend to advance the particular group interests of Jews. In fact, that could be true whether or not MacDonald's evolutionary explanation is correct. Kevin MacDonald, Culture of Critique: An Evolutionary Analysis of Jewish Involvement in Twentieth Century Intellectual and Political Movements (Westport, Conn.: Praeger, 1998).

Ayn Rand was, of course, Jewish, so it could be argued that she would have been more militantly pro-Israel in the current situation.
